Drake has been a superstar for a while now but I think this go round he knows it. "Thank Me Later" was a typical first album...big features and notable producers. "Take Care" was a little closer to the OVO sound but tracks like "Proud of You" seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. But this time I think Drake has finally found his sound and is willing to drive in this lane he has created for a long time. A couple things stood out to me about "Nothing Was The Same". For one, the production on this album is A grade. Each beat is unique and mastered perfectly. "Tuscan leather" has a flipped Whitney Houston sample that sits perfectly on the baseline. One of the standouts to me was "From Time" this isn't a hip hop beat matter of fact none of these beats would be considered "hip hop". I consider it rap and blue or the new RnB. No matter what people say, yeah I see the memes, and the horrible wardrobes, Drake makes dope music that is relatable because nowadays emotion is no longer in hip hop. Just turn on the radio and listen intently and tell me what connects emotionally with you. Drake sounds confident as ever on this album knowing that he has made it and that he no longer has to obey to the ways of the industry. This is summed up best in "Innocent Behaviour". The one complaint about the project is the tempo. "Hold On We Are Going Home" is the fastest song on the album. At times the lack of tempo make the songs feel like they have blended together. One other thing that caught my eye was the features...no Nicki, no Wayne just Jayz. Overall this album is just that, an album. No one song stands out as an obvious single, instead the project itself is something that will be on repeat for the next couple months. I applaud Drake for making his own type of music on the entire project. No turning up here!

Dope Album: Born Sinner
Wow! Where do I start with this album? One word to describe
it… CLASSIC. There is not one track you can or would want to skip over on this
album. With no rap features we get to see Cole’s complete arsenal and boy he delivered.
He produced the album almost entirely and it’s outstanding. There is real music
in these beats real strings real instruments and my favorite there is a real
choir. This album has classics up and down the track list. Let’s start with an
amazing track and my personal favorite “Let Nas Down”. In this song Cole gives
us one of his most transparent songs yet where he describes how he looked up to
Nas growing up and how when Nas was asked about Cole’s first single he claimed
to hate it. This is definitely worth your time. Imagine how dope a remix would
be with Nas on it!!! The intro is definitely another must listen making a
mockery of society and its sensitivity. “Ain’t that some shit” is definitely
something I feel you might be hearing in the clubs! “Crooked Smile” is the new “Keep
Your Head Up” with TLC on the hook this song will definitely resonate with lots
of people. As you can see I really liked this album. If you are a fan of
conscious rap this is a must listen. From the amazing production to the great
bridges this album is full of content and layered musically. I bet when you
listen to it you might have to run it back again. Cole World!!!
p.s: Kanye better bring it with “Yeezus”

Dope Album: Excuse My French
So before I get started this album is not for some one who is looking for lyrical rap. This is the kind of music you wanna turn up loud in the car with the windows up. This isn't your normal New York artist. If you closed your eyes and listened to the music you would think this music is from The South. This is the new way of the industry...make what's hot and make lots of it and put every hot rapper on there too! All things considered this album is pretty neat. With singles like "Pop That" and "Freaks" I was skeptical if French would be able to hold his own on a whole album. He sure delivered! The album starts off with a prison phone call from the infamous Max B. Montana's beat selection and melodies are on point on every track. Montana for the most part stayed in his lane with big beats talking about the street life. Stand out tracks included "Ballin' Out" featuring Jeremih and Diddy. A song that really caught me off track was when I saw a song featuring The Weeknd. I really had no idea what to expect. This track is very unique and really good. From the start it sounds like a Weeknd song but French delievers with an introspective verse. This track is definitely going to be a fan favorite but I doubt it will get much radio play because of it's low bpm rate. There were a couple slips ups though...and unfortunately they were placed back to back on the album with "Bust It Open" and "Drink Freely". As you can see these two songs were made for the ladies and the clubs. Montana just never seemed comfortable on these tracks. It might have been because we aren't used to hearing him on tracks like that but I suggest he stays on his street ish. "I Told Em" is also a track I was disappointed in because these are the tracks that make me skeptical about French. The rhymes were way too simplistic and I think I heard more "haaannss" than bars lol.All in all I wouldn't call this a classic because the sound is very generic to what is out right now but that doesn't mean it won't get your head nodding and keep the speakers shaking.

The 20/20 Experience Album Review
Now before I get started I want to make one thing very clear
so pay attention…Justin Timberlake did not steal Robin Thicke’s style in fact
Thicke stole Justin’s whole image with the falsetto voice but I digress. Lets
look at our very first track “Pusher Love Girl”. What I can say is that this
album goes back to the slow rhythms and blues and for those who might not know
that’s rnb. Timbaland is on the track but this isn’t the kind of production you
are used to by TImbo. Instead the beat is very fresh and in one word its
original. It doesn’t sound like anything on the radio with your synthesizers or
electro beats. And lets give JT some credit the man can sing! I will skip over
“Suit and Tie” cause if you ever listen to the radio I’m sure you have heard it
before. One thing you will see when you listen to the album is that a lot of
the songs are extremely long and are almost like 2 songs blended together where
JT breaks it down over a different beat. Another classic rnb joint on this
album is called “Strawberry Bubblegum” its smooth beat and melodic lyrics
definitely make this track standout. I have to say that the two songs I would
pass over would be “Blue Ocean Floors” and “Let the Crew In”. My favorite track
on the album though and probably will be the next single of the album is
“Mirrors” Overall the project is solid. It is refreshing to hear original rnb
music. The one downside I guess to the album is that it is produced entirely by
Timbaland and sometimes the lack of different sounds and rhythms make the album
sound quite repetitive.
