Dope Album: Excuse My French

So before I get started this album is not for some one who is looking for lyrical rap. This is the kind of music you wanna turn up loud in the car with the windows up. This isn't your normal New York artist. If you closed your eyes and listened to the music you would think this music is from The South. This is the new way of the industry...make what's hot and make lots of it and put every hot rapper on there too! All things considered this album is pretty neat. With singles like "Pop That" and "Freaks" I was skeptical if French would be able to hold his own on a whole album. He sure delivered! The album starts off with a prison phone call from the infamous Max B. Montana's beat selection and melodies are on point on every track. Montana for the most part stayed in his lane with big beats talking about the street life. Stand out tracks included "Ballin' Out" featuring Jeremih and Diddy. A song that really caught me off track was when I saw a song featuring The Weeknd. I really had no idea what to expect. This track is very unique and really good. From the start it sounds like a Weeknd song but French delievers with an introspective verse. This track is definitely going to be a fan favorite but I doubt it will get much radio play because of it's low bpm rate. There were a couple slips ups though...and unfortunately they were placed back to back on the album with "Bust It Open" and "Drink Freely". As you can see these two songs were made for the ladies and the clubs. Montana just never seemed comfortable on these tracks. It might have been because we aren't used to hearing him on tracks like that but I suggest he stays on his street ish. "I Told Em" is also a track I was disappointed in because these are the tracks that make me skeptical about French. The rhymes were way too simplistic and I think I heard more "haaannss" than bars lol.All in all I wouldn't call this a classic because the sound is very generic to what is out right now but that doesn't mean it won't get your head nodding and keep the speakers shaking.

Rating: 3.7
Dope Track: "Gifted" featuring The Weeknd
Certified Club Banger: "Ballin' Out" featuring Diddy and Jeremih
